Who We Are

Our Why

Growing up, we were very lucky to have an athletic childhood. Now that we are older, we can see the positive impacts that being involved with sports had on us. We wanted to find a way to support local children and youth with getting the chance to participate in sports.

While not every family has the ability to register their children in sports due to financial barriers, we believe every kid deserves the chance to be a part of a team, have people cheer for them and score the game-winning goal.

About Us

Kayla Harvey

Founder and Co-Owner

After focusing on track & field, Kayla ran for the Langley Mustangs for many years and held the record for the 400m sprint for her age division. While she no longer runs competitively, she enjoys playing soccer and running with friends. Just this past year she completed her first half marathon alongside Brayden!

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the University of British Columbia with a major in psychology, Kayla aspires to have a career in the mental health sector.

Named as one of Surrey's Top 25 Under 25 for 2024, Kayla has found her passion in her work with Bar Down Cookies. With BIG goals to take their brookies all across Canada, Kayla strives to make this happen every day.

If you have met her at markets or our storefront then you already know that Kayla is a bubbly, positive and enthusiastic individual who truly loves her job.

Brayden Harvey

Co-Owner

After exploring a variety of sports, Brayden settled on hockey as his sport of choice. Previously playing for the Cloverdale Colts, he now enjoys being a member of a local recreational team.

Currently Brayden is training to pursue a career in emergency services but in his time off he can often be found working on restoring his and his friend’s classic cars, spending time with family and getting active.

Brayden does a lot of the behind-the-scenes work for Bar Down Cookies, so if you see him at a market, make sure to say 'hi'!
